Know what is in an episode before your child hears it.

Podcast Filter analyses one episode at a time, shows you each passage it flagged alongside the transcript and the original audio, and prepares a version for your child that contains only what you approved.

What your child hears Passages you removed

A 58-minute episode with three passages removed. You choose each one.

You see the evidence, not a score.

A single number telling you an episode is “safe” hides the judgement you are actually trying to make. Podcast Filter shows you what it found and why, and leaves the decision where it belongs.

Read the passage

Every flagged moment comes with the surrounding transcript, so you can see whether a word is a throwaway or the point of the segment.

Hear the original

Play the actual audio of a flagged passage from the review screen, in short sections with a second of lead-in. Tone settles most of these questions faster than text.

Keep what you want

Turn a whole category off, or keep one individual example and remove the rest. You can widen or narrow the boundaries around a cut.

How a single episode goes through.

Nothing is analysed until you ask for it by name. There is no background scanning of a catalogue and no automatic approvals.

  1. Find the episode

Search Apple’s podcast directory, open a show, and pick the episode you are deciding about.

  2. Request the analysis

You are quoted the cost before you commit. The episode is transcribed with timings, and flagged passages are extracted against the categories you care about.

  3. Review and choose

Work through the findings with transcript and audio. Select the rules you want applied and make exceptions for individual passages.

  4. Approve for a named child

Approval is separate from everything before it, and it binds to the exact edit. Saving your filter choices does not put anything in a child’s library.

  5. Your child listens

Approved episodes appear in their library on their own paired iPhone, or in the child area of a shared one. They can download for offline listening.

What this does not do.

These are the limits as they actually are. You should know them before you rely on the app for anything that matters.

  • Detection is not complete. Automated analysis can miss a passage, or flag one you would have kept. Review the findings before you approve an episode — that step is not a formality.
  • Spoken words only. Analysis works from the transcript. Music, sound effects, and tone on their own are not detected.
  • An offline copy follows the approval it was given. If you change or withdraw an approval while your child’s iPhone is offline, the copy already on that device keeps working until it reconnects and synchronises. The app shows you which changes a device has acknowledged.
  • It does not control the rest of the phone. Podcast Filter governs its own library. It does not restrict other apps, other podcast players, or a device someone has deliberately tampered with.
  • One episode at a time. There is no way to pre-approve a show, a feed, or a publisher. Every episode a child can hear was approved individually by you.
  • English-first, United States. The first release targets English-language shows available as public audio, for customers in the US.

Pay for what you review.

Credits, not a subscription. One credit covers an hour of episode, and a credit is only spent when you request an analysis — never for listening, changing your filters, or re-approving an episode you already paid to review.

5 $9.99 $2.00 per credit
40 $59.99 $1.50 per credit

Built on a clear position.

Podcast Filter is made from a conservative, traditional Christian view of what parents should be able to decide for their own children. That shows up in which categories exist and in the decision to include a rule for irreverent use of God’s or Jesus’s name, distinguished from prayer and ordinary religious discussion.

It does not show up as a judgement applied on your behalf. Every rule is one you switch on, and every removal is one you can put back.
