Vocab Cards

Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 30, 2026

Vocab Cards is built to keep your data private. This policy explains what the app stores, what leaves your device, and what it does not do.

What the app stores

The words, definitions, examples, source notes, and review history you create are stored on your device and, when you are signed in to iCloud, synced through your private iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit. This data lives in your personal iCloud container and is not accessible to the developer.

What leaves your device

When you look up a word, only that single word is sent to the Free Dictionary API (dictionaryapi.dev) to retrieve a definition. The surrounding text, source titles, and source URLs you save are never transmitted. No other personal data is sent anywhere.

What the app does not do

Vocab Cards contains no analytics, advertising, or tracking. There are no third-party tracking SDKs, no advertising profile, and your data is never sold or shared. The app does not require an account or a login.

Purchases

The optional one-time “Unlimited” upgrade is processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. Apple handles payment; the developer never receives or stores your payment information.

Reminders

If you turn on reminders, notifications are scheduled locally on your device. No reminder content is sent to any server.

Keeping and deleting your data

Your data stays in your iCloud account and on your devices until you remove it. Deleting a card removes it; deleting the app and clearing its iCloud data removes your information. You can manage iCloud data anytime in the iOS Settings app.

Children

Vocab Cards is a general-audience app and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Terms of Use

Last updated: May 30, 2026

By using Vocab Cards, you agree to these terms.

The app

Vocab Cards is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without warranties of any kind. Definitions are retrieved from a third-party service (the Free Dictionary API) on a best-effort basis, with no guarantee of availability, accuracy, or completeness.

Purchases

The “Unlimited” upgrade is a one-time, non-consumable in-app purchase that removes the free card limit. It is tied to your Apple ID and can be restored on your devices. Purchases are handled by Apple and are subject to the App Store Terms of Sale; refunds are handled by Apple under their policies.

Your content

The words and notes you create belong to you, and you are responsible for the content you add.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the developer is not liable for any indirect or consequential damages arising from your use of the app, including any loss of data.

Changes

These terms may be updated from time to time. Continued use of the app after an update means you accept the revised terms.
